I went to school with a lot of Jessicas. But there are a couple that I probably know better than the others. One is my affectionate, gutsy, viola-playing, world-traveling, geologist friend from undergrad. She was a much-needed friend my freshman year of college, and she knew me and Forest before we were Forest-and-Ivy. Jessica has always been so good about keeping in touch through the years, and even visited us back in May. I love how she talks to my girls--really looks them in the eye and has a frank conversation with them, unlike some adults who tend to talk down to them (I am often guilty of this, as well). It was so good to see her again and catch up on some of the time that has flown by between us.
My other Jessica is my sweet-but-tough, bookworm, high-school-musicals-buddy, homemaker goddess, loving friend I've known since junior high. She came to visit at the very end of July, with her husband, three daughters, and fourth daughter in utero, but hardly showing. They were traveling from Kentucky, on their way to Utah to visit Jessica's in-laws. We had not seen each other for almost four years. Our families have grown so much during that time.
After some play time at our house, at the park, and some ice cream to cool off, she and her family piled back in the car to complete their journey. Just a few days later, I heard that Jessica's baby girl was born at 24 weeks while their family was still in Utah.
Welcome to the world, Vivienne! You have a super awesome mama, as I am sure you already know!
