Summer Summary, Part 2: Hiking

I know, I know--summer is over. But just so everyone knows, the Dixons had fun and squeezed in a lot of hiking. Several hikes have already been documented on this blog, but below are all of the unchronicled hikes our family did between May and September of this year.
Sullivan Gulch, 5/5/12

 Devil's Backbone, 6/10/12
This was a play date for Ramona and her friend Wyatt--just went a quarter of a mile out and came back.

 Arthur's Rock, 5/28/12

Rewarded ourselves with some gelato afterward at Sammy Q's

 Coyote Ridge, 6/2/12

Mika refused to be in the Ergo at one point and had to be carried like a princess
The highlight of this hike is always the little prairie dogs that pop up alongside the trail
 Devil's Backbone, 6/23/12
For this hike I left the kids behind and braved the heat with a group of teenage girls from church (pre-certification for Girls Camp)

Hike to Lake Haiyaha, Rocky Mountain National Park, 6/30/12
Ramona wearing a size 18-month onesie as a top, thanks to her mom's awesome packing job

Bobcat Ridge, 7/7/12
Glacier Gorge, Rocky Mountain National Park, 8/11/12

Summit to Long's Peak, 9/1/12
Forest tackled this hike with some colleagues from work. He left the house in the middle of the night so they could begin their ascent at 2am.

Tundra Communities Trail, Rocky Mountain National Park, 9/3/12

Alluvial Fan, Rocky Mountain National Park, 9/15/12

Ramona earned her Junior Park Ranger Badge on this last trip to the National Park. She was quite pleased.
We love living in Colorado.
