When I was in elementary school, for a while my favorite thing was the Disney movie "Pocahontas." I remember spending hours trying to draw the Pocahontas cartoon character, and was further inspired to create an entire paper mache village like the one depicted in the movie. I even made tiny little ears of corn. All in my bedroom--can you imagine the mess I must have made?
I also fell in love with the music from that movie, especially "Colors of the Wind." I probably still know all the words, from listening to it and singing it so many times when I was younger. So it was fun for me to find out that Ramona's ballet teacher chose that song for their class's recital performance in June.
Here is my "Colors of the Wind" ballerina before her dress rehearsal:
And here are some photos from the dress rehearsal (no photos were allowed at the performance) I marked Ramona with an arrow.
Her younger siblings all survived the rehearsal excursion, thanks to some snacks and a game on the tablet.
Here is Ramona posing for a picture before we drove to the recital:
It was definitely a bigger dance recital than we had previously experienced--I think there were about 40 performances on the program. Ramona's was #17.
(there was a third page of the program, too 😞)
I spent most of the recital in the lobby with Wylie. We snuck back into the auditorium in time to see Ramona dance, then all of us made an exit back to the lobby to wait until the show was over.
We had to go outside for a while to break up the wait time.Despite the lengthiness of the whole recital, we so enjoyed watching our ballerina show off all she has learned in dance class this year. Good job, Ramona, and thank you, Miss Bonnie!
