Six reasons why it feels like summer:
1. Homemade Ice Cream
Strawberry Sorbet
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
4 pints strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup light corn syrup
less than 1/4 teaspoon guar gum
Bring the sugar, guar gum, and 2 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and allow the mixture to simmer, without stirring, until the sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Set aside to cool completely.
Put the strawberries and lemon juice into a food processor and puree. Press the strawberry puree through a strainer to remove the seeds.
When the sugar syrup has cooled completely add it to the strawberry puree. Add the corn syrup and stir well. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions.
3. Garden Zucchini
6. School's Out
Last but not least, my online class is over. As much as I appreciated the chance to learn about adolescent development for five weeks, right now I would rather focus on infant development by observing our baby Ramona. Teenage Ramona can wait a while longer . . .

Scrumptious!!!! Both the sweet treats and your pretty Ramona ;)
Hey, we tried your recipe last night and LOVED it. MMMM. :) My garden has been a bit slow...but I'm hoping to get something someday and then it'll be worth the wait. Last year we planted in the back yard and it was too shady so we hardly got anything...This year I put it in the front yard and things seem to be doing a bit better, but we've had a ton of wind/rain storms that have been hard on some of my plants. Here's hoping they work out. :)
I have to stop reading your blog. The photos of Ramona are breaking my heart. I can't believe she is getting so big and I Haven't even met the little bundle of joy. I hate living so far away.
Actually Romona didn't look too happy in that swimming picture!
Was it the hat? Isn't it amazing how babies have such amazing expressions on their faces. As we grow older often we tend to hide what we really are thinking.
